Workers at National Energy Regulator of South Africa {Nersa} have declared a dispute with the employer following a deadlock in salary negotiations.
This lead the workers to embark on a strike action beginning on the August 19.
In a media statement NEHAWU says it reaffirms its determination in ensuring that the current global economic crisis is not used as an excuse to reverse the gains workers have scored over the years and has therefore decided to lead its members to the streets.
NEHAWU says although it hopes for a speedy resolution of the negotiations is not going to sit in the boardroom with an employer who shows no willingness.
The union also says it is not willing to sit with an employer who does show appetite to engage constructively on some very fundamental issues relating to workers salaries and benefits.
