A 47 year old man is due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court today following his arrest in Adderley Street yesterday for theft out of a motor vehicle.
Police spokesperson Captain Frederic Van Wyk says members patrolling around the Fan Fest in Grand Parade, noticed the suspect running away from a parked, white Toyota Hilux, motor vehicle.
They pursued the suspect, and during the search stolen items were found in his possession.
“During a pursued, the police arrested the suspect in Adderley Street. The police searched the suspect, and recovered a GPS navigating system and charger in his possession,” said Van Wyk.
It is alleged that the suspect, broke the passenger side window of the vehicle, and removed the recovered items from inside the vehicle.
Van Wyk adds the recovered items were returned to the owner.
“According to the owner, he parked his motor vehicle at about 08:30 yesterday in Adderley Street,” Van Wyk said.
