A small plane crashed into the Swartberg Mountains near Oudtshoorn on Tuesday killing four people on board.
According to police spokesperson Ntobeko Mangqwengqwe it is still unknown from where the plane took off, or where it was going.
“The Civil Aviation Authority will be conducting an investigation today around the cause of the crash. Meanwhile police has opened an inquest docket,” says Mangqwengqwe.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Mark Stokoe says that paramedics responded to the scene, when the report of the crash came in at approximately 1pm.
“Arriving emergency workers found that the aircraft had crashed into the mountain side during extremely misty conditions,” says Stokoe.
The victims a man from Johannesburg and the three women from Mosselbay have been positively identified by their family members.
