Suspect arrested for murder in Strandfontein

Police arrested a suspect in an open field in the early hours of Tuesaday morning, in Strandfontein on charges of murder and attempted murder.

According to police spokesperson Bernadine Steyn the suspect approached a house in Yacht Close in Stranfontein on foot, knocked on the door and after the door was opened the suspect entered the house firing several shots.

“A 25-year-old man, Faizel Williams, sustained gunshot wounds in his chest and back. He died on the scene. A 32-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. He is still in hospital in stable condition,” says Steyn.

During the arrest police confiscated a firearm that as reported stolen in October 2007 in Sea Point.

The 22-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court on Friday. He faces charges of murder and attempted murder.
