Four African National Congress ward councillors have resigned from their posts in Cape Town. This follows a meeting between the ANC Western Cape and a number of councillors.
The party says it has information that “certain councillors” had been using ANC infrastructure to mobilise for another political party - believed to be the Lekota/Shilowa grouping.
The ANC asked Wandile Nkwele, Mzwandile Matiwane, Boyisile Mafilika and Kululwa Mpongo to resign.
Sipho Kroma says we felt as officials, mandated by the Provincial Working Committee that we no longer had the kind of task that is needed with them and we asked them to resign based on the information we received and they agreed.
