Chairperson of the Finance Portfolio committee, Nhlanhla Nene has been appointed as deputy finance minister. The Congress of South African Trade Unions has congratulated Nene on his appointment. Spokesperson Patrick Craven says that COSATU looks forward to working with him.
“COSATU, and I’m sure many others, have been impressed with the job he has done. He has in particular been very open minded an not tried to impose any kind of personal ideological view, but to open discussion to all points of view,” said Craven.
COSATU says that they are confident that Nene will continue the outstanding job he has done as chairperson of the National Assembly's Finance Committee and hopes that he will continue with this open-minded approach as a minister.
“COSATU will be very happy to collaborate with him in implementing the policies of the ANC’s Polokwane conference.”
