The South African Weather Service says rain will continue to fall over most parts of the country and will persist until the end of the week.
Disaster management’s Charlotte Powell says the strong winds wreaked havoc in the Cape Peninsula yesterday, leaving behind a trail of uprooted trees and damaged buildings.
The City’s Disaster Risk Management team says a spate of wind-related incidents have been reported in several suburbs.
“Strong winds reaching speeds of 65km/h, blew down the entire first-floor wall of a building, still under construction in Observatory and crushing a car parked in front.”
One person was slightly injured in Matroosfontein after a floodlight pole collapsed onto a car. Disaster management officials will remain on high alert.
