Boy murdered in Delft South

By Tarryn Le Chat

As Cape Town reels from the shock of the gruesome murder of little Celine Cowley, a second child has been found murdered on the Cape Flats.

A boy aged between six and nine was found dead on an empty plot in Delft South yesterday afternoon. He appeared to have head injuries inflicted by a blunt object, said Police Captain Elliot Sinyangana.

Police said they were called out to Gilo Street in Delft by a passerby who had found the child's body. He was lying face down.

The boy, who has not yet been identified, was dressed in blue jeans and a long-sleeved green and navy striped top. He was also wearing white running shoes.

Sinyangana said, "At the moment we do not know who his parents are. We want the parents or guardian to come forward".

Sinyangana asked anyone able to help the police indentify the boy to contact Detective-Captain Elvin Jansen on 021 954 1345
