With the 2009 elections coming up, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) will be open for registration from the 8-9 November to all South Africans (over the age of 18 years) who have not yet registered to vote.
According to available statistics, young people make up a large part of the population. The Azanian Youth Organization (AZAYO) is urging South African youth to go and register this coming weekend. AZAYO Western Cape Provincial Chairperson Somdaka Sibongile encourages all young people to take responsibility and form part of the decision makers in the country.
“This country, South Africa, is the only country that we have. So it is very important to participate in all the activities, so that we can have a good country, a country that all of us can be proud of,” said Sibongile.
