The ACDP attended the convention called by dissatisfied ANC members and believes that the breakaway party will contribute greatly to build a multiparty democracy. According to the ACDP’s Steve Swart there was a sense of hope and excitement at the conference, adding that it was a pleasure to participate.
“We particularly welcome the call that was made to protect the rule of war and our constitution, that all should be equal before the law and that no politician should be treated differently when it comes to the law,” said Swart.
The ACDP endorsed the call for political tolerance, saying that all citizens should be free to support whichever party they wish.
“We believe that this new party, with significant support from disgruntled ANC members, that our political landscape has been changed dramatically,” said Swart.
