South African deputy president Baleka Mbete has urged both the government and private sector to move speedily with a plan to ensure that the number of people affected by HIV/AIDS is halved by the year 2011.
This National Strategic Plan is aiming to increase access to treatment, care and support to those living with HIV/AIDS.
Baleka Mbethe said that business can play a very important role iin making this possible.
Mbete said this during South African Business Against HIV and Aids conference in Emperors Palace in East Rand last night.
The conference that will continue today is expected to meet business leaders when they will debate the prevention and treatment of the pandemic.
