There was a festive atmosphere at the Sandton Convention Centre where thousands of delegates from all corners of the country toyi-toyied and sang revolutionary songs while waiting to be addressed.
Unisa vice chancellor Barney Pityana stressed moral values and accountable, quality leadership in his speech at the national convention of the Lekota/Shilowa group that has broken away from the African National Congress.
He says what happens this weekend breaks the mould of South African politics and promises to fulfil the promise of 1994 and the Constitution. The crowd reacted loudly when Pityana criticised ANC president Jacob Zuma and Youth League leader Julius Malema
