Mooreesburg police were informed of an accident that took place on the N7, fatally killing five people on Wednesday morning.
According to police spokesperson Bernadine Steyn police found two vehicles, a white Ford Ranger bakkie with five passengers and a white Mercedes minibus with two passengers.
“It is alleged that the bakkie veered out of control and went over onto the oncoming lane colliding head-on with the minibus,” says Steyn.
The passengers in the bakkie, four of which were males died on scene while the fifth occupant is in serious condition in hospital.
The two occupants in the minibus a female died on the scene, and the other is in stable condition in hospital.
A case of culpable homicide is being investigated.
