In Northern Kwa Zulu-Natal a hailstorm damaged 50 houses, it caused trees to be uprooted and a power failure in eMondlo.
Mayor Patience Khaba said the hailstorm damaged some of the houses while others were left without roof tops on.
Khaba continued saying that families that have lost their homes have been placed in temporary shelter while they wait for assistance from the department of human settlements.
The municipality is working on restoring power in the area .
