The City of Cape Town has announced that they plan on having more affordable apartments in the city.

The plan called Cape Town Spatial Development Framework is looking at creating employment hubs closer to informal settlements.

The City said the framework will replace apartheid-era plans.

Mayoral Committee Member for Economic, Environmental and Spatial Planning Belinda Walker explained that they are proposing to contain the development of Cape Town.

She added that the City wants to encourage development.
