Today marks World Press Freedom day and in recent months South Africa has been uneasy about press freedom.
Dr Gabriel Botma from the journalism department at the University of Stellenbosch said the day is about remembering the history about press freedom.
He said that we are celebrating the fact that we have more press freedom in South Africa than 18 or 20 years ago.
Botma said that press freedom must be maintained.
