Donors to donate blood

Western Cape Blood Services searching for new donors to donate blood to bring the level back to five days.

The reason why there is a blood shortage, because regular donors suffer from flu and colds which is deterring donors from donating. Corporate Public Relations Officer of WCBS, Michelle Vermeulen says  The aim for Western Cape Blood Service is to maintain a blood stock level of five days at all times to ensure they meet the demands of Western Cape.
Group O stocks are low and therefore the WCBS is appealing to everyone in the Western Cape with group o blood type to donate at a blood donation clinic near you. If you are older than 16  and younger than 75, weigh more than 50kg, healthy on the day of donation and you lead a safe sexual lifestyle you should be able to donate blood.

To find out where you can donate visit www.wbca.org.za, call 021 207 6300 or sms ‘Blood’ to 33507
