Police
say40-year-olf David Hoffman were at premises in Skool Street and was
antagonized by an assembly of citizens.
On
Saturday in Franschhoek, a 41-year-old police officer has been incarcerated when
an off duty, anti-gang unit member, was shot and killed following an occurrence.
Police say 40-year-old David Hoffman was at premises in Skool Street and was antagonized
by an assembly of citizens. Following the incident police members were called
to the scene. Afterwards, gunshots were fired and Hoffman was killed. The incarcerated
police officer, who is also an anti-gang unit member, were with him at the stage
of the incident. Police has not been able to confirm why Hoffman was antagonized
by the community.
Police
spokesperson Novela Potelwa an IPID investigation (Independent Police
Investigative Directorate) were under way. Acting Western Cape provincial
commissioner Sindile Mfazi has expressed sympathies to the family of sergeant
Hoffman.
