A father of four who had been on the run since Tuesday after
allegedly hanging his four children has been arrested. The 44-year-old father
was arrested in KwaDabeka earlier this morning. He faces 4 counts of murder as
he was charged with murdering his 4 children by the names, Ayakha Jiyane,
Kwezi, Siphesihle and Kuhlelonke.
KZN police spokesperson Colonel Thembeke Mbhele said, the father
allegedly picked up three of his children who were aged 4,10,6 and he went to
pick up his eldest daughter who was 16 at their mother’s house. It is
alleged that after picking the children up, the man hung the three smaller
children in the family home in Wybebank and then took the teenager to a bush
near West Germany where she was hung from a tree. KZN MEC Nontlantla Khoza
reported that when she paid the mother a visit, she was visible distraught and saddened
by the death of her 4 children. Apparently the mother was in the process of divorcing
her husband and she believes he murdered her children in a form of revenge.
MEC Nontlantla Khoza said on a report “they want to see this
man behind bars and paying for his sins”. She also went on to say that
communities can’t be at peace knowing that the criminals, rapist, murderers are
still not behind bars for their crimes. The Department of Social Development
has also dispatched a team of social workers to help with the traumatic experience.
