Lentegeur residents are traumatised after a shooting in Mitchell’s Plain
Lentegeur Police are investigating a case of murder and two counts of attempted murder after teens were gunned down on Friday.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said that the motive is believed to be gang related.
Van Wyk says “Lentegeur police are investigating a murder and two counts of attempted murder following a shooting incident on Friday, 7 March at 4.10pm at the corner of Lilac and Linaria Street in Lentegeur, where a 19-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded and two others aged 18 and 17 injured. According to reports, members received a shooting in progress at the mentioned address. Upon arrival on the scene, one victim was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.
It is alleged that the children were innocent and were not involved in any criminal activity chairperson for the Lentegeur Community Police Forum (CPF), Michael Jacobs said that the shooting took place in broad daylight.
These senseless shooting are disrupting communities and innocent people lose their lives because of it.
