Macassar Dunes Nature Reserve will host a Weedbuster Week programme tomorrow and Wednesday.
This is an annual event where 1-hundred-and-40 grade 7 primary school learners from schools in Khayelitsha and Macassar visit the reserve over a two day period.
The main theme for the programme is alien plant species and biodiversity awareness.
Lewine Walters, from the nature reserve said: “The programme focuses on alien invasive plants, water on the water cycle and how our water plays an important role in our lives and biodiversity in general.”
Walters said it is also important for learners to understand how species, be it plants or animals, interact with each other and why we should not be destroying nature.
