The capetonians celebrated the new year in party spots around the central business district.
The festivities around the country occurred peacefully under the watchful eye of the police that kept peace.
There were no major incidents reported even in Johanesburg the Hillbrow residents did their usual bottle throwing and no incidents.
There were more than six hundred police officers deployed to ensure the safety of everyone.The police were well prepared for the occasion that is known for all sorts of misbehaviour in the past years.
