Duo caught near Kraaifontein for transporting drugs with R1.7m

The case against two suspects caught transporting drugs worth about R1.7 million has been postponed to next week.

The Hawks in the Western Cape said officers reacted on information received regarding a Toyota Hilux bakkie transporting drugs from Gauteng to Cape Town on Friday.

‘’The vehicle was spotted on the N1 near Kraaifontein, at Brighton Road turn off, heading towards Cape Town. The vehicle was stopped and searched by the members. During the search, members saw blocks wrapped in cellotape, undeniably 215 x 1kg parcels of compressed cannabis were found concealed in false compartments inside the trailer,’’ said Warrant Officer Zinzi Hani, Hawks Western Cape spokesperson.

Mluleki Nkosi (27) and Mhlongishwa President Magagula (28) appeared in the Kuilsrivier Magistrates Court on Monday, and the case has been remanded until 7 October 2024 for a formal bail application.
