The Western Province Blood Transfusion Service have extended the hours of their clinic drive due to the critical shortage of the the O Blood Group.
The service has appealed to the public to donate blood.
Prospective donors must be between 17 and 65 years, weigh more than 50kg and lead a safe, healthy lifestyle.
Donors are reminded to eat before attending clinics. The services’ Lynn Erasmus says the situation has become critical and they have not been able to alleviate the increasing pressure.
Western Province Blood Transfusion Service have added additional donation sessions at shopping centres in the Peninsula and Boland to its regular schedule to make it more convenient for donors to donate blood.
