Deadly Flu heats Gauteng

The South African Democratic Nurses Union says they received the news with shock of highly contagious mysterious flu in the Morning Side hospital in Johannesburg yesterday.

SANDU secretary General Moeketsi Mohai says health professionals are saddened by the untimely passing of the medical personnel who treated the patient infected with a contagious fever.

“ This unfortunate incident is an illustration of the life threatening risks to which Health Professionals such as doctors and nurses are exposed to.’’

The symptoms to look out for are fever and flu-like symptoms, vomiting, diarrhoea, body aches and coughing.

According to the Gauteng department, systems were in place to follow up on everyone who had contact with the deceased.
