Mayor Helen Zille is to hand over keys to nine families who are beneficiaries of the City of Cape Town’s Kewtown community housing project.
The project, which will be completed in March next year, will provide an additional 236 homes for the community.
Sixty families are already living in their new homes.
Dan Plato, Mayoral Committee Member for Housing, said the City understands that there are still a high number of people on the waiting list.
“Another portion of these people will get the opportunity in the coming Bokmakierie housing development that will commence early next year.”
Plato continued by saying a number of Athlone residents will benefit from this development.
