Strandfontein police arrested two learners in connection with stabbing of another student. The student was stabbed in the back during an argument, the student was rushed to hospital was then rushed to hospital where he said to be in a critical but stable condition. The school principal, who intervened during the incident, sustained a cut wound on his right hand.
Superintendent Billy Jones, spokesperson for SAPS says “The two learners were in police custody overnight and after assessment by an officer of the court, they were released into the care of their parents. They will be appearing today in Mitchell’s Plains magistrates Court and they are facing a charge of assault with intent to cause bodily harm.”
In later reports, it was reported that name calling could have be the cause of the argument.
