Two dead in a Tafelsig fire

Two people including a 13-year-old girl lost their lives in a fire in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain on Friday night.

Two others were rushed to hospital in a critical condition, among them a minor.

According to the City’s Fire and Rescue Service' Spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, firefighters were alerted to a blaze at a dwelling in Monc Blanc Street.

‘’Upon arrival, firefighters were confronted with two dwellings well alight and several patients suffering from smoke inhalation. Crews performed CPR on a woman and a 13-year-old girl, but unfortunately, both passed on. A man and another female minor were rushed to hospital in a critical condition.’’

Carelse added that one dwelling was completely gutted and the other sustained partial damage.

The fire was extinguished just after 01:00 and police have taken over the case
