The public have been asked to come forth with any information that could help with the investigation into the murder of Nomwulo Mzibeli.
Her partially clothed body was found late on Tuesday evening at her home in Khayelitsha by a family member.
The 39-year-old woman's body was found on the bed with several open wounds to her head.
A post-mortem will be conducted to confirm the cause of death, as well as the possibility that she may have been raped.
A case of murder is being investigated.
