Fifa has given Bafana Bafana a helping hand for next year's star-studded Confederations Cup.

In the significant precursor to South Africa's hosting of the World Cup, Fifa has given Bafana a favourable seeding and designated South Africa to play the opening game of the tournament at Ellis Park on the 14th of June.

The decision to seed South Africa in Group A suggests that only one of the tournament's "Big Three", Spain, Italy and Brazil, are likely to be in the same section as Bafana.

Meanwhile Bafana have a busy schedule ahead in preparation for the 2010 World Cup.

The national team has a game against Holland and an away fixture against Germany.
