Swift police action leads to robbers’ arrest

Parow Police responded to a call of an armed robbery in progress yesterday morning at a business premises in Plattekloof.

Upon their arrival on the scene, the SAPS members spotted a suspect, armed with a screwdriver exiting the premises. He was quickly arrested, and a stolen cell phone that was found in his possession, was confiscated.

SAPS Superintendent, Andre Traut said the suspect’s accomplices tried to flee the scene but were caught by the police.

“He was armed with a 9mm pistol of which the serial number was removed. The stolen fone was also recovered.”

“Both suspects are being detained and will make a court appearance on charges of armed robbery and also the possession of an illegal firearm.”
