Archbishop Desmond Tutu will not vote in next year’s election - unless the African National Congress heals its divisions.
Despondent about the state of South Africa 14 years into majority rule, one of the country’s most respected elders, who turn 77 on Tuesday, says he will not vote if an election was held tomorrow. As reason, he cites what he calls the “brutal” ousting of former president Thabo Mbeki and the infighting in the ANC.
Tutu also said ANC president Jacob Zuma should decline to accept office as the president of South Africa as long as the cloud of alleged corruption hangs over his head.

I think Tutu's comments are very irresponsible at this stage of our democracy. Why is he not voting? What is going on has to do with the ANC...and he should vote for another party. If he is unhappy with them he should get them out of power. That would be the smart thing to do.
Well maybe he doesn't share the ideologies of other parties, you must remember where the Arch and the ANC as an institution come from.
I'm young and was never really involved in the fight against Apartheid but all I know is that I will not vote for the DA not now not ever. I'd rather not vote too.
Yes I do understand that people died for this right of voting but I don't share the ideologies of the parties in this country including the current African National Congress.
Another thing the Arch didn't say people mustn't vote, its his choice if he feels like not voting then let him be.
