Cape the drug capital

According to the crime statistics released on Thursday by Police Minister Nathi Mthetwa the Western Cape has the highest drug related crimes over the past year.

Between April 2009 and March 2010 134 840 incidents have been recorded throughout the country with 60 409 in the province.

Cape Town has seen an increase of 14.5 percent over the past year and 200 percent compared to March 2004.

Mitchell’s Plain has the highest drug related crimes in the province followed by Elsies River, Bishop Lavis and Manenberg as drug hot spots.
