48 people have been confirmed injured by Metrorail when two trains collided on the East Rand today.
The collision happened between a Metrorail train and Transnet.
The incident occurred between Mpilisweni and Angus, on the Vereeniging line. The passenger carrying 56 people completely derailed leading to the injuries.
Spokesperson Tu Dlamini said the injured had been taken to hospitals around the East Rand. The cause of the accident is still no known but an investigation is underway.
