After the train accident that took place in East Rand yesterday, Metrorail made alternative travel arrangements for commuters affected by the accident.

At least 48 people were injured in the crash when a passenger train from Vereeniging collided with a goods train in Alberton.

Metrorail’s Tu Dlamini said yesterday that she hoped that the line would be cleared and ready to operate today. We have arranged for buses between Germiston and Vereeniging".

Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) spokesperson Carvel Webb said the regulator had also dispatched "three senior investigators to the scene".
