Six people including a four year girl have been injured after the bakkie they were travelling in lost control on the N3 north bound near Balgowen in the early this morning.
When ER24 and EMRS paramedics arrived on the scene they found the bakkie on the road with severe damage to the side.
Er24’s Derrick Banks said five patients including the four year girl were found seated on the road side and were treated for minor injuries.
“The sixth patient, who is believed to be the grandmother, was found down an embankment.”
“The elderly patient had suffered possible neck and back injuries and specialised equipment was used to stabilise her further before being carried up the embankment into the waiting ambulance,” he said.
The injured patients were transported to Pietermaritzburg Medi-Clinic and Northdale Hospital.
It still remains unclear what caused the driver to lose control of the bakkie and crash into the Armco barrier causing the passengers to be ejected.
