San Parks has revealed that 21 rhino have been killed since the beginning of last month.
Chief Executive Officer,Dr David Mabunda, says 31 arrests have also been made thus far in connection with the poaching.
16 of the arrests were made in North West province, 10 in the Kruger National Park, 3 in Gauteng and 2 in Limpopo.
Last year 333 rhinos were victims of poaching. In a statement SanParks issues a stern warning to poachers vowing that they will “leave no stone unturned in this respect, including going for the kingpins of these operations.”
SanParks will also introduce a new tool that will aid them in curbing rhino poaching. The tool will document the DNA of each rhino which will enable them to pin individuals to specific crimes and to effect better prosecution.
