Mineral Resources Minister Susan Shabangu has drawn the wrath of the ANC Youth League by saying nationalising South Africa's mines is not an option for the country or the economy.
Shabangu stressed on the sidelines of a mining conference in Cape Town that South Africa needed to become responsible and attract more investments.
Anglo American chief executive Cynthia Carroll supported the Minister by saying nationalising was the road to ruin.
Meanwhile, the ANC Youth League lashed out at the minister and said Shabangu was giving false assurances to mining capitalists.
The League has now called on the ANC to exercise maximum discipline on “people who go around spreading misleading messages”.
