Opposition parties have expressed their disgust at the R100-million price tag attached to last year’s 17th World Festival of Youth and Students.
The event was hosted by the National Youth Development Agency in Pretoria.
The Democratic Alliance Youth has called for the immediate dismissal of the NYDA board.
DA Youth leader, Makashule Gana says R83-million of the cost came from outside the NYDA budget does not justify its use.
Freedom Front Plus Youth spokesperson Wouter Wessels says an urgent investigation into how the funds were used needs to take place.
He says taxpayers have a right to know how their money was spent.
