The ANC Youth League has called for the South African Broadcasting Corporation to provide fair, balanced and effective coverage of the situation in Egypt.
The league's spokesperson Floyd Shivambu says the SABC has a responsibility, as one of Africa's biggest broadcasters to report about African stories and political occurrences in a balanced manner.
Shivambu says people in South Africa and other countries in Africa have not received a fair perspective of the situation in Egypt.
He adds that the Western news agencies are portraying what is suitable for their countries' political agendas.
Meanwhile, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak insists that he never intended to stay in office past this year.
Mubarak says he will stay in office until re-election in September.
