The North West portfolio committee on Education is calling on all provincial departments to give an account concerning the challenges faced by special schools.
According to the Portfolio Committee, the curriculum makes no provision for learners with mental disabilities.
There is also no proper infrastructure for learners who are physically challenged.
Provincial deputy spokesperson Motlalepula Rosho says all the departments must meet with the committee and tell them what their plans are regarding their findings on the schools.
Rosho says the committee expects the departments to address the issues and in the next financial year prioritise them in their budgets.
