Telephone operators at the City of Johannesburg’s main call centre say they have been on a go-slow due to the ongoing billing crisis.
Thousands of residents in the city were incorrectly charged for water and electricity usage last month and were later cut off for non-payment.
Operators say they are unable to handle the volume of calls coming in.
They also allege that the relevant departments do not attend to complaints logged at the call centre.
