The Independent Electoral Commission officials say voter registration was sluggish this weekend.
By the end of Saturday, only 400-thousand people had registered countrywide.
The IEC’s chief electoral officer, Pansy Tlakula, says the target of registering one-point-five-million voters was steep.
Final figures for the weekend will be released today.
Meanwhile, Parliament’s Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests will meet to elect a co-chairperson from the National Assembly.
“The position became vacant when former co-chair Mr Luwellyn Landers was elected the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development following the Cabinet reshuffle late last year”, IEC said in a statement.
