A 58-year-old man died after being struck by lightning in Libode, outside Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.
Seven children, including a one-year-old, were reportedly injured in the incident.
The lightning bolt struck the man inside a house where he was sheltering with five children.
Two other children were also injured in a nearby house by a lightning strike.
Thunderstorms were reported in the area late yesterday afternoon.
