Trains in the Western Cape are running slower then normal today due to vandalism that happened last night.
Metrorail said the automatic dispatch system between Chris Hani and Stock Road stations on the Khayelitsha line was vandalised, which means trains will have to be dispatched manually.
Metrorail spokesperson Riana Scott said “We have grounds to believe that it is a deliberately orchestrated thing to disrupt services in the area this morning”. An investigation is already underway.
Meanwhile the Independent Democrats Parliamentary Leader Joe Mcgluwa has stated that the ANC government has failed the working class, as 14 out of 85 trains have been withdrawn in the province.
He added that the passenger Rail Association of South Africa (PRASA) has not paid the R150 million needed to fix trains in the Western Cape.

Does the Regional manager of the Western cape think that all members of the public are retarded? Do trains in other parts of the world not run due to hot weather and 40km winds? What utter bullshit. The trains have been withdrawn because they are not properly maintained and company's such as Union Carriage refuse to do any more work for PRASA due to lack of account payments. Once again PRASA/metrorail will find themselfs in court wasting tax payers money.
So much for the legacy of the world cup when the government promised South Africans a world class commuter service. Alls that world class in this parastatal is the salaries and bonuses paid to top officials all with contacts to the ANC. Two years ago I stated that no improvment will be seen and once again I have been proved correct. Wellcome to the new South Africa.

So why the lie from the Regional manager about the trains being withdrawn because of wind and hot weather? Why not just tell the public that metrorail is not capable of running a proper commuter service and that they continue to to taken to court in this regard. Also why must service providers also have to resort to the courts to obtain money owed to them for work done. If this was a private company they would have been declared bankrupt by now.
So much for the legacy of the world cup. I stated publicly two years ago that no improvment will be seen and have once again been proved correct.
