Expect road closures as EFF march to Ndabeni as part of 'provincial shutdown

The City of Cape Town has advised motorists of numerous road closures on Monday, as the EFF embarks on its 'provincial shutdown'.

About 1 000 participants are expected to gather on the open field on the corner of Heideveld Road and Volstruis Road in Bridgetown (Vangate Mall). From there they will proceed to the Ndabeni municipal complex.

The protest, mainly, is due to the "unjust taxi impoundments".

The march is due to start at 09:00 and rolling road closures will be as follows:

The left lane along Jakes Gerwel northbound will be cordoned off for the participants and they will continue over the N2 along Jakes Gerwel towards Viking way, they will then turn left onto Viking Way and proceed all the way down in the left lane towards the bridge and turn onto Jan Smuts Way.

They will continue along Jan Smuts Way towards Sunrise Circle, then exit the circle onto Berkley Road.

The march will continue along Berkley road, pass the abattoirs and the participants will gather on the corner of Berkley and Alexandra road .

Berkley Road will be closed between Cannon Road and Sunrise Circle

Alexandra road will be closed between Oude Molen Road and Ndabeni Road.

The City's Traffic Services spokesperson, Maxine Bezuidenhout, said motorists who want to access the Vincent Palotti Hospital should do so via Raapenberg road She encouraged motorists to use alternative routes where possible.
