Western Cape police have taken in five alleged Shoprite Checker’s protestors for questioning of assault over the weekend. Inspector Bernadine Steyn told the Weekend Argus that 100 people stoned a Shoprite Checkers store in Rondebosch.

It is believed that protestors assaulted two security guards, three workers and a woman. The casualties received medical attention on the scene. The police are investigating a case of public violence.
