The City of Cape Town has condemned South African Airways decision to cut their direct flights between Cape Town and Frankfurt.
The City says that the plan was “ill conceived and will have a significant impact on business”. They also criticised the airline’s reluctance to provide a clear explanation of what the reasons for the decision are, despite numerous requests by the City.
Council spokesperson Simon Grindrod says the City of Cape Town “finds it unacceptable that South African Airways can just simply cancel a route.”
Grindrod says that this will have huge implications for our local economy as business now find it less attractive to stay in Cape Town because of the high costs of air transport.
