Mbeki resumes his mediation in Zimbabwe's political crisis

Former president Thabo Mbeki has agreed to resume his mediation in Zimbabwe's political crisis. His spokesperson Mukoni Ratshitanga says the mediation will begin as soon as is practically possible.

Power-sharing talks have stalled in Zimbabwe after the two parties, the Movement for Democratic Change and Zanu-PF, failed to agree on the allocation of key ministries.

This week the MDC called for Mbeki to intervene to salvage the power-sharing deal a call Zanu-PF apparently rejected.
