Bloemfontein’s Regional Court Chief Magistrate has ordered the media to leave the accused and witnesses in the crimen injuria trial of four students alone.
Chief Magistrate Mziwonke Hinxa warned in court that he could take legal action against the media.
His warning came after State prosecutor Ben Mulutsi told the court journalists had interfered with witnesses in the case.
Four cleaners and a man were allegedly humiliated by the students and are State witnesses in the case.
The students’ legal representative also commented on the media, saying his clients had already been found guilty in the media and by politicians.
The case will resume on February 24 next year.
